Name
End-of-Life Inventory Management
Description

End-of-life inventory management is a critical balancing act between service, cost, and obsolescence risk. This session will focus on how OEMs are managing inventory portfolios as parts move deeper into their lifecycle, with particular attention to service life, retention approaches, reserve practices, and scrapping rules. The discussion will focus on benchmarking current approaches: what are your current policies? What changes have companies made in recent years? Why were those changes necessary? And what impact have they had on inventory levels, availability, write-offs, and overall portfolio health? Rather than focusing on make-to-order strategies or broader policy debates, this session will stay practical and portfolio-oriented—looking at how companies manage aging and slow-moving inventory within existing networks. Participants will compare approaches, discuss tradeoffs, and identify where end-of-life management practices may need to evolve in response to shifting demand, cost pressure, and service expectations.
