Name
Recovering Value from Reverse Logistics
Description

Reverse logistics is often fragmented across supply chain, warranty, dealers, suppliers, remanufacturing, and finance, making it difficult for OEMs to see the full process clearly, let alone manage it efficiently. This session will look at reverse logistics as an end-to-end flow. We’ll follow a returned part from the dealer through to remanufacturing, reuse, or scrap. Rather than assuming there is a single best-practice model, the discussion will focus on a complex and operationally challenging area where many OEMs are still working through roles, responsibilities, handoffs, and cost ownership. Topics may include:

  • Return terms and policies
  • Collection processes
  • Returnability windows
  • Field scrap rules
  • RMA generation
  • Outsourcing
  • Supply chain and remanufacturing operations relationship

The session may also explore how companies measure reverse logistics performance, including metrics such as core recovery rate, transportation cost per return, credit-processing time, etc. Another important angle is inventory visibility: how much material is sitting at different stages of the return flow, and where inefficiencies are tying up value.
