During the parts shortages of the last three years, OEMs have learned some crafty strategies about identifying parts that are highly likely to backorder and then blocking those parts from being overordered or ordered for less critical uses. When in crisis mode, these strategies were used to solve specific issues and unrolled quickly. However, these processes proved that dealers might be open to such limitations in the future.
